Apply cold or ice packs to the area. Give nothing to eat or drink. Elevate the limb after splinting if there are no contraindications, such as sus- pected pelvic fractures, spinal injury, or skull fractures. If pelvic fracture is suspected, prevent movement and avoid log-rolling. Arrange immediate medical care with em- ployee’s personal health care provider or transport to hospital.
