Wearing protective clothing, such as wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses when outdoors. Seeing personal health care provider annually (more frequently if at high risk) for a skin examina- tion. If examination findings are positive, counsel employee regarding: Emphasizing importance of medical treatment and follow-up. Providing employee with emotional support. Assisting with return to work, as needed. Discussing ways to minimize sun exposure with protective clothing, sunscreen, and the like.
